Unable to turn off SpamSieve on Mountain Lion

I’m trying to turn off SpamSieve (2.9.6) on a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.2). I’ve unchecked, and then removed the SpamSieve rules in the Apple Mail preferences. I’ve quit Mail. When I restart it SpamSieve starts – as if there was a ghost in the machine.

I love SpamSieve, I’m turning it off so that I can install it on our mail server as a drone.

You need to uninstall the plug-in and launch agent. Please see Uninstalling SpamSieve.

I’m sorry. I misunderstood the instructions. In earlier threads I found it seemed like disabling or removing the rules would be sufficient to stop it from launching.

Thank you very much for the prompt response.

That was the case before, but recent versions of SpamSieve work differently in order to be compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
