Apple Archive Utility is of limited value to most users, but apple has introduced this new format “aa”. Don’t fully understand it! Will this come to DropDMG at some stage?
Possibly. I would be interested to know what people want to use it for. My current thinking is that it’s much less compatible than the formats that DropDMG already supports, yet it doesn’t offer better compression than the .dmg
format. Maybe there’s a benefit, in some cases, to the way it archives the files directly rather than inside a file system?
I do not really get why Apple has introduced this. Leading on from your comments being able to encrypt Zip files for example, might be a better enhancement for no other reason than the widespread use of Zip files, …
