Apple Mail 14.0 Offline Account

MacOS 11.5 Apple Mail 14.0 Spamsieve 2.9.44

Hi,
When I delete items in the Spam folder they are sent to the Bin. When I empty the Bin an account I have tagged as Offline comes back online and downloads new Spam into the now Online Account.
This account has been receiving a lot of spam in the past and hence left offline until it is needed …
Any ideas on how to fix this.

It seems like a bug in Mail that it is taking an account online just to empty the trash. Does this still occur if you remove any messages from that account’s trash?

It might help to set your SpamSieve rule to use the Junk mailbox instead of Spam. Then you could use the Erase Junk Mail command to delete the spam without emptying the trash.
