Apple Mail - Discard Spam

I am running Big Sur Apple Mail and when I run the script - it moves the spam to the bin on the ‘On My Mac’ area - is that how its supposed to work - I thought it would permanently delete it?

It’s supposed to, but due to a bug in Apple Mail the script is unable to delete the messages when running on macOS 10.15 or later.

I tried, but wasn’t able to, though it’s possible I’ll eventually think of another possible workaround. The bug has been reported to Apple so hopefully they will be able to fix it.
