Batches of porno spam making it thru to Apple Mail

In the last 2 weeks I’ve been getting batches of pornographic email in my Apple Mail mailbox. They come in clumps – 6 to 10 or so all sent at the same time, often in the early hours for the morning (Eastern Daylight time). Each one has a unique email address, but they’re all similar – a sexually explicit subject and an attached photograph. They’re all coming to my gmail account.

I’m trying to recall whether I used a public, insecure wifi site recently, but in any case, I think SpamSieve should be catching theses – it catches the relatively small number of emails of a similar nature. Anyone suggestions for settings, either in SpamSieve or gmail?

(Running Monterey 12.4 for part of the time, 12.5 just in the last few days; MacBook Pro M1)

There may be a setup problem. Please see this page.

Thanks very much — I’ve turned off the gmail spam filter, and hopefully that will work.

To be clear, turning off the Gmail spam filter will not prevent spam messages from going to your inbox. However, if you you have SpamSieve set to use a different spam/junk mailbox than Gmail’s filter, having Gmail’s filter enabled could explain why messages are going to the Gmail spam mailbox instead of the SpamSieve one.

The main point of that page is that you should check whether the messages are getting through SpamSieve (in which case it may need to be adjusted) or whether something else (a setup problem or other software) is interfering.
