Best client other than Apple mail or Legacy Outlook

Recent new user here. Thanks for the tool I find it very useful and am looking to improve.

This is no fault of the SpamSieve dev, but apple mail is terrible. It consistently doesn’t download messages and I have to force quit it and reopen to get it to sync. I’m using O365, so it’s hard to believe it’s this bad, but I have never in the last 15 years had a good experience with apple mail. That said, I have to use it, since outlook requires the legacy version, which is not productive for me.

So my question is two-fold: 1. What is the best, free mac mail client that works with modern auth (no imap available) and that works with SpamSieve? The second question is: 2. Can I set up a drone like configuration so I can continue to use outlook and move messages to a folder to train it as spam?

The reason for the second question is that I work out of outlook and it’s annoying to switch back to apple mail (or an alternative that someone might suggest) to train it as spam/good.

Is your mail account IMAP or Exchange? I hear from a lot of users but have not been getting other reports of Apple Mail not downloading messages. So I wonder whether there’s an issue specific to your mail provider or perhaps something in Mail’s files on your Mac that could be reset.

I don’t think there are any other modern, free clients. The drone setup works really well with MailMate, which I think has a free trial.

I’m using O365

Exchange. O365. Our company blocks unknown app registrations, making mailmate unavailable (the modern auth uses an app registration to manage the imap config).

Ah, it was not clear that O365 referred to the service rather than the app. Have you tried connecting to it with Apple Mail from a fresh macOS user account?
