Can EagleFiler manages other folders without importing?

I’m trying to feel my way around EagleFiler. As a start, I changed my scanner program to send all scanned files to EF’s “To Import”.

I am trying to see how else to use EF more in my computing life. I have an extensive folders structure that manages my life and I have a proper naming convention for them, following
Johnny Decimal, numeral naming convention, for example:
10 Personal Documents
11 Income Tax

12 Expenses
12.1 Water Bills
12.2 Mobile Phone Bills
12.3 Fiber Internet Bills

20 Work
21 Company A
21.1 Project A

22 Company B

Etc

The above works well with my mind and how I think. So, if I’m looking to Save-As or want to drag and drop a file, I know exactly which folder to point it to.

I am wondering, instead of importing everything into EF, can EF library be pointing to “10 Personal Documents” so I could search, browse files from EF? I understand that EF has rules on library folder. I just don’t find it realistic to have double copies of everything just because I want to browse/manage through EF. If it is possible, how can I point EF to these folders, instead of importing?

Thank you for reading.

But, I like how in EF I can

Double copies is not a good idea. They don’t use more disk space, but they add confusion. You can move the existing folder into EagleFiler’s folder. Then it will be imported but there would only be one copy. If you only wanted part of that folder hierarchy to be in EagleFiler you can do that with a symlink as described on the page that you linked to.

Thank you. I think I will use symlink technique. I appreciate it.
