Can one automatically rename PDF files with the article title?

I am new to EagleFiler but found an amazing feature I have wanted for a long time in a filer: When importing scientific articles saved a PDF files on my computer, I see that the article’s titles become recognized in the Library list, and then I can rename the file with the title by right-clicking on that item. I have thousands of articles I’d like renamed (because many scientific articles have only useless letters and symbols in their filenames), and would like to do this automatically for each of them. Can that be done?

I think you are referring to right-clicking on some selected text within the PDF view? I don’t believe that menu command is available when right-clicking on the record itself in the list.

If the correct title is already in the Title field in the records list, you could select all the PDF files at once and then run this script to set all the filenames to the corresponding titles.

Thank you! I can see now the other major issue, that is when the title is not correctly picked up. Then, I have to select the text from the title and right-click to assign it to either the filename or the title only. Would there be a way to do that automatically? Probably not because the proper text has to be selected, but hey, one can always hope…

Right, it could be automated if the title were always the first line or something, but I don’t think that’s always the case.
