Is it ok to delete a large group of rules that have 0 hits ?
I don’t recommend deleting whitelist rules. It’s fine to delete blocklist rules that aren’t doing anything for you.
I have the same issue. I have almost 300,00 whitelist rules, and only about 25,000 have any hits. A large number of the 0 hit rules are over 10 years old. Do you still reccomend leaving them all? I hate to leave such a large file of unused data, but if it really doesn’t matter then I’ll ignore them.
It mostly only matters in terms of SpamSieve’s memory use. If you want to reduce that, you could delete the older whitelist rules with no hits. I’m also working on a feature for SpamSieve to help identify which rules are good candidates for deletion because they are unlikely to be useful.
