Download Timing out

Have been trying to update my MacBook Air since 08:00 BST this morning but getting a timeout error.

Any other way of downloading the update?

I just tested it, and the server seems to be working, so I would suggest just trying Software Update again. You could also download it using your Web browser and then follow the updating instructions in the Read Me file.
