Duplicate and edit Smart Folders

I’m running the evaluation copy to see if I can switch from DEVONThink. So far it’s looking good. However I can’t find a way to duplicate a Smart Folder to make a small change. In my case I keep records in year by year groups, so only need to change the year tag in the Smart Folder. I saw a conversation from many years ago about this same feature, and wondered if anything had changed.

I’m planning to add a feature to duplicate smart folders, but for now you would need to do this manually or by copying the plist file as described here.

Please let me know if there’s anything else that you’re missing.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. That would definitely be a useful feature. In the meantime I don’t need to recreate everything at once to decide if EagleFiler can replace DEVONthink for my needs. So far I think it can.

I made the change a year or so ago when the latest version of DT blue up my data base (probably my error but not sure). The main reason was that EF kept its files in the “open” where I can find them, and back them up (and I discovered, make aliases so I can get at them easily. EF is simpler to use, but has less features. To name a couple that I miss is a “Favorites” section (there are workarounds), and having a “today” function for use in smart folders. In general, I am very happy with EF and glad I made the switch. (EF support from Michael is far, far, better than DT)
