Emails being delivered to wrong account after Train Good

Occasionally when I move an email from junk to train good that is for my wife’s email account, it is then delivered to my inbox, whilst still clearly being for her email address. It only happens occasionally but is something weird and new, never used to happen.

Is this with Apple Mail? If so, please see this page.

Thanks, so I double checked and all accounts are set up for server spam folders not on my Mac. Only rule is spamsieve remote training. So not sure why this has started happening recently

I don’t think anything has changed recently with how SpamSieve does this. Is it possible that the messages in question were addressed to both you and your wife? If so, SpamSieve will see either account as a valid target and prefer the inbox associated with whichever recipient address is listed first.

Hi Michael

No single recipient only on the emails

Does the recipient match the address configured for the desired account in Mail’s Settings window?

Yes.

OK, then it’s not clear to me why the messages aren’t going to the expected place. You can click here to enable some additional debug logging, and then SpamSieve’s Log window will show exactly what it’s doing with each message and why. (Click here to disable the extra logging.)

Thanks Michael. I looked at the debugging log and it correctly identifies my wife’s email account but still puts the email in my account.

What do I do next as this is infuriating?

Could you copy/paste the relevant part of the log and send it to me via private message?

Sent

Thanks

How did you train the message as good? It does not look like you did this using the Train as Good menu command from Apple Mail.

If you used remote training, that uses different logic with different debug logging. It will try to find the inbox in the same account as the TrainGood mailbox.

I dragged it to Train Good on the main computer that has SpamSeive running

If you’re already on the main computer with SpamSieve, you can use the menu command and then it should go to the right inbox automatically. Otherwise, you would need to move it to the TrainGood mailbox in the same account that received the message.

On my main computer with Spamseive ( drone), there are no menu commands that I can see. Only option is to drag to train good or spam. Why would this be? Drone computer has remote training rule active via apple script

You should definitely have menu commands in the SpamSieve Dock menu. Also, please see the What If I Don’t See the SpamSieve Menu Bar Icon? section.
