While playing with the notes of some records, I realized it would be great to have a note pane that is automatically shown when a record has a note. It could take the form of a floating window that can easily be hidden, or of a button that would pop-up the window. (I often don’t notice a record has a note until I go hunting for it.)
Could you use the Info panel (command-option-i) for that ? It is a floating window and will remain as you click records. The info panel updates as you click records.
I use ControllerMate + Logitech Revolution MX to map one of side button to command-option-i so this panel is a click away, or another click to dismiss it.

I’d like to have the note be a viewable column in the files list.
I realize notes could contain things that aren’t easy to show in a column, but it’s something to think about.
That’s on my to-do list.
I could use the info panel, but I often forget there are notes (and I would not want it to be always open).
The suggestion to have a column would be very useful as well.
