IMAP Path Prefix

I apologize for the dumb question in advance.

What is the correct IMAP Path Prefix to set for the latest version of Apple Mail with the latest version of SpamSieve? This is on Sonoma 14.6.1. The email account is one of the ATT adopted children that they farmed out to Yahoo.

Thanks!

It doesn’t matter to SpamSieve. Just make sure that you’ve selected the ATT junk/spam mailbox in Mail’s settings as described here.

OK, but… These are the choices I’m given:

I wish there were others.

I tried setting the IMAP Path Prefix for this account to INBOX, which seemed to magically make the slow “Moving Messages” problem go away. But, that also eliminated the various folders held in the SNET folder as shown below. (Except for Inbox) Who knows what else was really happening.

So, rather than bother everybody here about a problem that isn’t due to SpamSieve, can you point me to a book or online presentation about the subtleties of using Apple Mac and all these settings? The online help at Apple isn’t much help and as for Yahoo, well, they’re worse.

Thanks very much.

This looks correct to me.

You should only set the IMAP Path Prefix to INBOX if all of the mailboxes that you have are inside of INBOX.

I’m not sure, especially since I’m not clear on what problem you’re trying to solve, but possibly Take Control of Apple Mail would help you.

My main problem is that moving messages, mainly on deletion, takes a long time and often gets stuck. I’m thinking that either it’s a problem with Yahoo - since the iCloud mail rarely exhibits that - or it’s something in my configuration.

But, thanks for the information. I will check out the book!

Yes, that sounds to me like probably a Yahoo problem that you can’t do much about.

It’s no wonder that they didn’t exactly conquer the world…

BTW, the Take Control of Apple Mail book is very good. It didn’t specifically answer my question, but it did suggest something that appears to have worked for the moment - fingers crossed.

I disconnected from the Yahoo based email account and reconnected from fresh. No changes in settings, but things seem to have settled down. No idea how or why.

Thanks again.
