Is Growl Still Relevant?

I’ve been “checking out” EagleFiler and have skimmed through the documentation for it. The use of Growl is noted several times in the manual. E.g.:

It is recommended that you also install Growl to take full advantage of EagleFiler’s notification features, although this is not required.

However it seems as if Growl is not currently available for download from the Apple App Store.

Is Growl still a useful adjunct to EagleFiler or is Growl essentially outdated by Apple’s Notifications implementation? If the latter, perhaps the EagleFiler manual should be updated relative to Growl.

Some people still use Growl (because it has more features) but it’s pretty much superceded by Notification Center at this point and will be removed in a future version of EagleFiler.
