Recenetly upgraded to iMac 24" with M1 chip. Mail does not open using spamSieve but when I log in as a guest Mail does open but SpamSieve does not. How do I correct this?
Which version of macOS are you using?
Could you explain what this means? Are you double-clicking Mail to launch it and getting an error? What does “with SpamSieve” refer to?
SpamSieve doesn’t open if you double-click it?
Michael, My wife Marilyn B Murov is the proud owner of the new iMac I am referring to in this note. She purchased the latest upgrade of Spam Sieve (3.0x) prior to its arrival. The problem described occurred after migrating her information to the new computer. We both have been using SpamSieve for years with great success. Your timely response and attention is very much appreciated. I have answered your questions as line items. Thank you. Tom

I just click one time on the icon in the “Dock”
and getting an error?
I do not get an error.

With SpamSieve 3.0.1 active on my older iMac OS 10.13 the Mail program worked without a hitch. Then my new iMac arrived and the program migrated over with the rest of the applications. That is when the problem began.

when I log in as a guest Mail does open but SpamSieve does not.
Investigating the problem further I first tried a safe boot and the problem persisted. Then I logged into the system as a guest and Mail worked as expected but Spam Sieve did not open

SpamSieve does open when it is double-click as the admin. User. But it was not in the Doc when I was logged in as a guest therefore I did not even try to open it from the application folder.
Mail is not supposed to open when you click the SpamSieve icon in the Dock. If you click on Mail in the Dock and Mail doesn’t open, I don’t think that would be related to SpamSieve. Are you seeing any behavior that suggests a connection there?
It sounds normal to me that SpamSieve would not start out in the Dock of the guest user.

Michael,I am sorry for the misunderstanding. My fault. When I click on mail one time from the dock it is SpamSieve that opens automatically. As a guest user; I select Mail in the Dock. The Mail menu bar opens as expected but with no drop down selections and no mailbox column on the left. As a guest Mail acts as you’d expect but SpamSieve is not present in the Dock. I did not look in the applications folder for it. I will repeat the process and look in there tomorrow morning. I am wondering if I uninstalled SpamSeive and reinstalled it if that would solve my issue?
Good.
The guest account resets each time you log in, so there won’t be any accounts configured in Mail. That’s probably why it isn’t showing anything.
Likewise, anything you install for SpamSieve (to make it auto-launch) will get reset each time you log out/in.
I don’t really understand what you are trying to do with the guest account. It doesn’t really make sense to use SpamSieve in that context because macOS will delete the training data when you log out.
