Mavericks issue with Powernap and drone filtering

Wondering how to deal with setting up a drone with the known Powernap issue in Mavericks. My computer restarts at random times after sleeping for a while. Is it just a matter of having Apple Mail boot-up as a login app? This has made it difficult for me to use my home computer as the “mail server”.

Wonder if running an app like Caffeine is a reliable and safe work-around?
