I am trying to decide between EagleFiler and MailSteward to archive Mail messages in Mojave, preparatory to upgrading to Catalina.
What is the maximum number of messages EagleFiler can handle?

There’s no limit. Individual mailboxes can be many GB in size (i.e. larger than your Mac’s RAM capacity), each library can have any number of mailboxes, and you can also have multiple libraries if you want.
