Moving a Revealed File

I’ve been trying to work through a time when I duplicated a lot of files. My issue is this: While I looking for a particular file, a box will eventually come on the screen that shows a listing in red of many of the files that I’m looking for and so I click on a particular file and then click on the button that says to “Reveal in Library.” When I follow that reveal process, I find the file that the red text is tied to and I know exactly where that file goes. But how do I actually move that file to the correct location? I tried clicking on the revealed red text file and dragging it to the location it was supposed to be. But when I look at that file in the correct location, it tells me that the size of it is “Zero KB” meaning, I guess, that there’s nothing in that file and it doesn’t open the file when I double click it. So the question is: How do I move a “Missing File” to the correct location and have the contents of the file within the file once it’s moved?

Also, If there’s one or more duplicated files that are out of their location then somewhere else that file exists and would contain the contents of the original file, instead of putting “Zero KB” in the size column?

Thanks for your help.

There’s more information in the manual, but in brief: a Missing File error means that the file on disk is not where EagleFiler put it. So you don’t want to move it in EagleFiler; you want to use the Finder to move it back to the folder where EagleFiler is expecting it to be.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking here. If EagleFiler is reporting the file as a duplicate, that means that at one time you imported a file into the library that matched the one you just tried to import. But it’s possible that the original one is missing. When you open the library, EagleFiler checks for missing files, and you can also select a folder or the Records source and use the Verify command.
