No new mail appears Apple Mail inbox until I open Junk folder

I am running Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1

Every morning when I start up my Mac no new mail messages appear in the Inbox until I open the Junk Mail folder. Then, when I go from the Junk folder to the Inbox, the new messages all show.

I’m pretty sure I have made a mistake setting up the current version of Spam Sieve, but I can’t figure out what I have done wrong.

I doubt this is related to SpamSieve. Before you start up your Mac, if you just check for mail using an iPhone or iPad, are the new messages in the inbox?

You are correct. The new messages show up on my other devices. I am only having this problem on my desktop.

This problem started when I upgraded to the current version of Spam Sieve. That’s why I think the problem must be due to some setting that I selected when I upgraded.

I doubt it, but you can test this by temporarily turning off the SpamSieve extension in Mail’s settings and by selecting Disable spam filtering in Apple Mail in SpamSieve’s settings.

Turning off the SpamSieve extension in Mail and selecting Disable spam filtering in Apple Mail in SpamSieve’s settings does not affect the problem. (In other words, new mail messages do not show up in the inbox until I open the Junk Mail folder.) Does this give any clue as to the source of my problem?

It rules out SpamSieve as a possible cause.

I don’t know what the cause might be. It might help to rebuild Mail’s database.
