Is there a way to get SpamSieve hosted on a server or “always online” location?
So I used to have an old laptop that was just always running; it wasn’t good enough for much of anything, so I popped SpamSieve in there and just let it do its thing. But that laptop has finally died (RIP).
My issue is that now, I am getting a lot of spam coming through, primarily because I don’t have anything that’s “always online” for SpamSieve. Things work when I can connect my personal laptop to the internet and kick off SS. But I do a lot on my phone and it feels unnecessary “training spam” via the drone for things that SpamSieve would’ve caught anyways (it just can’t since it’s not online).
Are there any plans (or is there any way) to get SpamSieve running without having a dedicated laptop? I do have an NAS server if something can be done there … it’s a Synology DS220+, used only for movies, but if I can make it work for something else, happy to do that with instructions). I use SpamSieve exclusively with iCloud Mail (not sure if that throws in a wrench or something).
The drone/remote training is for correcting SpamSieve mistakes. There’s no point in training messages that SpamSieve didn’t even look at—in fact, that would be counterproductive.
iOS/tvOS may be a possibility in the future. There are no plans to support non-Apple platforms.
A somewhat related request is some way to improve on Sync, perhaps with one’s own server. There is not enough bandwidth right now and often Sync fails or takes overnight.
Yes, I’m working on true syncing (record level rather than file level).
What are you using to sync right now? I’m doing rsync over Wi-Fi, which never fails and is pretty quick even though I have a huge SpamSieve data store.
Oh shit. I got this confused with a different conversation I was having about forScore. Is my face red! As Emily Latilla used to say on SNL, “never mind.”
