Problem erasing SPAM

Greetings:

I’m using SpamSieve 2.9.24 with MacOSX 10.11.4 and Mac Mail client. When I marked an item of email as SPAM this morning, my email froze. When I restarted it and SpamSieve I find I can no longer erase the items in the Spam folder. I select all mail in the Spam folder, select delete and after a few minutes select erase all deleted items. I receive the following error message: 7,036 messages could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash – On My Mac” 1752360.emlx couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists."

When I go look at the Spam folder all items are still there. How can I fix this problem and get rid of the Spam.

Thanks for your help

This means that Mail’s database is damaged. To rebuild it, please see this page.

Thanks. That fixed it.
