Process Spam Regularly

I am a huge SpamSieve fan and have used it for many years. Unfortunately over those years the amount spam I receive daily has increased as well… go figure.

My question is not about SpamSieve per se, but the best way to get my computer at home (where SpamSieve is installed) to wake up every hour (while I am at work) and in doing so, process my email/SPAM. I know I could create a bunch of Cron tasks (pmset) …

But is there a better way?

I’m not aware of any built-in GUI way to do this. If your Mac supports Power Nap, it can check for mail once per hour without waking. Or you could set the Mac to sleep its hard drive and display and leave it “on” the whole time. The CPU and most other components will go into a low-power mode automatically.
