How do I do it? My Library consists of .rtf and .pdf. When I create a tag, give it a name, then press return, the tag is named “tag”. How can I make a tag with the name I give it? V. 1.9.14. Thanks.
OK, I’m not sure what is happening. It would make sense that I couldn’t create a tag with a tag name that already existed, but the tags appear to be changing all the time (or at least they changed since I looked for the tag in the tag list). I know that sounds careless, so I guess there’s no way for me to prove my point. So I’ll change my question to, “Is it possible for tags to be intermittently visible in the tag list?”
You can type the name that you want before pressing Return. You can also rename tags by:
- Selecting the tag in the source list and pressing Return.
- Selecting the tag in the source list and choosing Rename from the contextual menu.
- Double-clicking on the name of the tag in the Tags window.
Yes, it will pick a unique default name each time you create a tag. I don’t know what you mean by “changing all the time.”
No.
By “changing all the time” I was suggesting that possibility, because what I observed was that the name I typed in for the new tag I had just created wasn’t accepted. The tag was renamed automatically to “tag”. The first time I looked for the tag I had tried to create in the list, it didn’t appear to be there. (They are sorted alphabetically, right?). After getting the same results for a couple of tries, I discovered that the list appeared to be longer (I have 70-100 tags for my rtf’s and pdf’s), and that time the existing tag was easily located. I found this baffling. Thanks.
