I would be interested in adding some sort of visual mark (text color?) or flag to messages that have been rescued by the script.
My latest personal email address has seen a real uptick in incoming spam lately and I am (once again) experimenting with enabling Dreamhost’s implementation of the MailChannels on my domain.
While the Rescue Good Messages script does what it needs to do silently and perfectly, I’d like to be more aware of the messages that it’s rescuing. Maybe to bug Dreamhost and/or MailChannels to fix certain false positives, maybe to be more aware of email types which will be stuck in the server spam folder(s) when I’m on the road and my Mac isn’t running, or maybe just to assess for myself whether DH’s spam filtering is worse than no filtering. I think the last time I asked DH (in 2023) about reporting falsely flagged emails, I was told that DH wasn’t actually submitting these to MailChannels anymore. Sheesh.
Sure, that sounds like a good idea. Which type/color would you want? I can see a text color being a good choice because it wouldn’t interfere with flags that might be used for other purposes. On the other hand, maybe some people wouldn’t like the text to be stuck in another color (since it’s not easy to clear it yourself in Mail). Flags are easier to clear and sync between devices. Maybe a blue or purple flag?
I’m easy, any visible marker would work for me. I thought of text color as an alternative if setting a flag wasn’t practical. Agreed, flags are a better choice. (To the best of my knowledge, text color and background color, as set by rules in macOS Mail, will never show up in iOS Mail, but flags do.)
A blue or purple flag would work great for me (I don’t use either color for anything at the moment). Although my scripting ability is nearly nil, I think I could manage to modify the flag color in the published script if needed.
The colored flags in Apple Mail can be renamed. Maybe let the user select the color and name in spamsieve settings - or as parameters in the rescue script.
