I tried to set up a smart search for files based on tags of their parent folder, but couldn’t find a way. Did I miss it or isn’t it possible?
Since I’m no native speaker, I add an example, so I hope you can understand my question.
I’ve got projects, e.g. “project alpha”, “project beta”, “project gamma”.
Now I want to give project alpha a tag “important” and find via smart folder all files in a folder with the tag “important”; I don’t want to tag the files, just the parent folder. Is there a way?
That is not currently possible with smart folders, but it sounds like an interesting idea that I can consider for a future version. When you say “parent” do you mean the immediate folder that directly contains the files? Or do you mean an “ancestor” folder that might be several levels up?
wow, what a quick respond!
That would be really nice
At the moment I only needed one level up, but I’m sure there’ll be situations coming up, I would like to do “group” “sub sub files”.
Since I’m no coder, I don’t know how difficult it would be building this, so I would really happy about any solution.
