Spam stays in Apple Mail inbox until I 'apply rules'

I leave my Apple Mail open all the time. When my Macbook wakes from sleep and gets the new emails, the spam e-mails are marked as read, but they stay in my inbox. I need to ‘apply rules’ before they move to my spam folder. That’s not the way it should work I guess…
I’m on High Sierra (10.13.6), Mail 11.5 (3445.9.1), SpamSieve 2.9.39

There’s a bug in High Sierra that can cause Mail rules not to move messages when waking from sleep. SpamSieve includes a workaround for this, which you can enable by clicking this link. This will make SpamSieve quit Mail when the Mac sleeps and relaunch it after the Mac wakes.
