SpamSieve 2.8.6 not working with Mailsmith 2.2.5 on MacOS X 10.4

In the named version of Mailsmith, SpamSieve 2.8.6 gets unselected in the SpamFilter settings. One can select it and close the dialog, but it will not save as selected.

Therefore, the commands “Mark as Spam”, “Mark as Non-Spam” and “Recalculate Spam Score” in the Message menu are inactive.

Until SpamSieve 2.8.5 everything worked fine together with MailSmith. I can’t upgrade MailSmith, since I am stuck to MacOS Tiger. I couldn’t downgrade SpamSieve to 2.8.5 it always downloads the newest version of the disk image in all links!

So, currently my Spam Mails aren’t handled properly. I would appreciate help at least with a link to an older Version of SpamSieve.

Older versions of Mailsmith incorrectly think that SpamSieve 2.8.5 and later are too old to be compatible. (This is due to a change in SpamSieve’s version number format.) You can fix this by entering this command in Terminal:

defaults write /Applications/SpamSieve.app/Contents/Info CFBundleVersion 2.8.6

assuming that SpamSieve is in your Applications folder.
