SpamSieve 3.2 More spam in inbox

I’m now on SpamSieve 3.2.1 but ever since I upgraded to version 3.2, a lot more spam messages are showing up in my Apple Mail via gMail inbox. I hope it’s just a coincidence.

There’s some information here where you could figure out what’s happening yourself, or you could send in a diagnostic report.

Thanks for the diagnostic report. The log is showing 99.4% filtering accuracy over the last month, with a total of 13 uncaught spam messages. This includes some time before SpamSieve 3.2.

Of the recent mistakes, one was because of a sender named “HomeEquityLoans,” which had previously sent a spam message that ended up in your inbox but which you did not train as spam. So SpamSieve thought you did want these messages.

The same thing happened with the “Milestone-Mastercard,” “SiriusXM,” and “Cloud_Security_Alert” senders, and it looks like there are many more.

It’s important to correct all the mistakes. None of this seems to be related to the 3.2 update.

I recommend that you go through the Log window, starting at the bottom (most recent). If you see any spam messages that say Predicted: Good in green, train them as spam. Then SpamSieve will know that you didn’t intend for it to treat them as good.

If I ever intensionally trained anything as Good it must have been years ago, and recently it’s possible that I made a mistake and trained something as Good but I meant Spam, I certainly did not do it more than once. Something else must be going on.

I didn’t say that you trained the messages as good. I said they were in your inbox but you didn’t train them as spam. That will make SpamSieve auto-train them as good. There are many recent examples, which you can see in the Log window.

Okay I don’t understand what’s going on, but regardless of my training actions, IMO SpamSieve 3.2 behaves differently when it comes to allowing certain messages to appear in my inbox, than SpamSieve 3.1 did. Can I revert to 3.1?

As an aside, while the email address in my profile is correct, I never see your replies in my inbox.

It’s really important that you do. Please ask a question so I can clear up whichever part isn’t making sense.

The behavior cannot be separated from your training actions. You have been effectively telling SpamSieve that you want to see the spam messages, so it’s been letting more and more of them into your inbox. SpamSieve 3.1 would behave in the exact same manner.

The solution is to (1) fix the old training in the log, and (2) train properly going forward.

I checked the logs, and we are indeed sending you e-mails for each forum reply. I guess your mail server, or some other filter between us and you, is blocking them.
