SpamSieve crashes mail

Mail crashes a few times daily and when I quit SS, it doesn’t crash at all. Here’s some logs from today before I quit it. (well, how can I send the log file as the full text won’t fit here)

You can include the crash logs as attachments, either in the forum or via e-mail.

The most common reason Mail would crash is due to its own junk filter. This page explains how you can avoid such crashes by telling SpamSieve not to try to keep it in sync.

That page includes a LOT of information that’s not relevant also. Which info relates to not keeping that junk filter in sync?

The part related to Apple’s junk filter is in #4, but since I haven’t seen the crash log it could also be one of the other items there.

logs sent via email

Thanks, but none of the files that are you sent are Mail crash logs. The filename should start with Mail and end with .ips. Please make sure that you are looking in the Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder inside your home folder.

Interesting. I did grab those files from the correct folder in my home folder. So maybe it’s not a CRASH per se but just forever hanging (for hours) and control click says Application not Responding so I force quit Mail and then both it and SS quit and restart. Sometimes it’ll work for a short time and then freeze again down the line. Sorry if I took us on a wrong path.

Right now, I’ve been running Mail for about an hour, with SS quit with no issues. Is there some way to see what’s causing the issue from this point? If I start SS and Mail freezes again, what could I send you that might help?

A crash would be if the app unexpectedly quits and then a crash reporter window comes up. If it stops resounding, that’s a hang/freeze, and you can record a sample (from both apps) so we can look into what’s causing it.
