SpamSieve is more accurate than Gmail’s spam filter. It will catch more of the spam and put fewer of your good messages in the Spam mailbox.

No, SpamSieve does not access your password or communicate with the mail server. It just evaluates the message data that it receives from your mail client.

I chose SpamSieve because, even though it is a pain to set up properly, once it is running on your Mac it is elegant and simple and a great performer. I have actually found it to be much easier to use than Gmail’s spam handler and it is MUCH more accurate.
