Universal or Silicon versions on the way?

Hi.
I saw an entry for 2021 about v 2 would be either Universal or Silicon native. It also mentions a beta version coming up.
After that I can’t find any more info.
Yes, I know that Apple will develop Rosetta 2 for some time, probably a couple of years. But still I think more people than me would like to not having to run Rosetta on Silicon Macs.
Is there a beta out? If not: any idea when it will be?

See this thread. Unless something’s changed since this summer, there isn’t a projected release date.

Rosetta works well, but of course I’d like to be rid of it, too. Version 2 is still in development. I’ll post in the forum when it’s ready for beta.

I want to believe.

Hi Michael and thanks for your answer. Am I to understand that your focus at the moment is on Spam Sieve? I understand that since you have two apps to update and do all work yourself there is a need for you to prioritise. And if so I understand why there is no beta version of EagleFiler at the moment.

SpamSieve had been the focus for a few years, as I was completing a major new version (3.0), which was really several big upgrades in one. Then, due to some changes that Apple made with macOS Sonoma, the Apple Mail integration had to be completely rewritten a second time. Due to various issues with Mail, it ended up taking a lot more time (after Sonoma shipped) to get this really polished, and there are still a few minor things I’m tracking down. So that had to stay the focus for longer than I expected. Now, however, though I’m always working on maintenance updates to SpamSieve and EagleFiler 1.x, the main focus has shifted over to EagleFiler 2. As I’m rebuilding the app from the ground up, it doesn’t make sense to release a beta until all the pieces come together.

I understand and it sounds like the best way to go. My question was due to the fact that I am not really sure how Rosetta works, but reading up on it, if I understand correctly it does not really affect any of the apps that need Rosetta. And as long as I keep EagleFiler open in the background instead of closing/opening when I use it, it does not slow things down either.
I just use EagleFiler as an “archive” and find DevonThing just too expensive. So I can live with Rosetta

Yes, Rosetta works seamlessly, and neither it nor EagleFiler will slow other processes down when you aren’t actively using the app.
