"Using significant energy"

Hi team,

I just purchased a brand new m4 macbook pro and I upgraded to the 3.1.2 version of spam sieve. My battery was running out quicker than expected and it seems that spam sieve is the only programming “using significant energy.”

I’m not sure if anything changed with the software update or maybe my hardware update?

Any tips to lower energy use and prolong my battery life would be appreciated.

It’s not clear what would be causing that, as it normally doesn’t use significant energy. Certainly, it’s much more efficient if there are no windows open; otherwise it will constantly be updating them as new messages are filtered. If you’re still seeing high energy use with no windows open, please record a few samples during that time, and I can look into what’s happening.

If you’re using Apple Mail, you can also try setting it to check for new messages less frequently.

Thanks for your reply. The Sample Process menu command will be enabled after you select SpamSieve in the list of processes.

Since you’re using Outlook, the setting for how often SpamSieve should check for new messages is in a different place.
