Maybe I missed it? Did the “update available” notice for 3.0 say something about it costing current users?

It was only after I installed it that I saw there is a charge for it.

Yes, this is what it said:

No, it does not automatically reinstall the old version. But you can download SpamSieve 2 and replace the new app file with the old one, and it will go back to working as before.
