SpamSieve 3.1.2. does not appear in Sequoia mail 15.5

Did some maintenance with Onyx and SpamSieve now never shows as an option in mail.

  1. Extension shows as installed in Mail. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no result.
  2. Disable spam filtering in Apple mail is checked.
  3. Enable Spam filtering using mail extension is checked.
  4. Full disk access is granted
  5. Extension is enabled in mail
  6. No rules with Spamsieve name
  7. Enable junk mail filtering is not set
  8. Enable block mail filtering is not checked
  9. If I click on the spamsieve dock train as spam is grayed out

This all sounds good to me. What are you expecting to see that you’re not seeing? Have you read this section about the SpamSieve menu bar icon?

That is normal if you click on the Dock icon when Mail isn’t the active app.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It does work if mail is active and I right click on the icon in the dock. Duh.

In the mail app if I highlight a message and select “message” the pulldown doesn’t have any SpamSieve option. The keyboard shortcut doesn’t work. Mail doesn’t seem to recognize that it is there within the app although it does work if I use the external dock icon.

The last version of Mail that allowed that was macOS 13. So there’s now a separate SpamSieve menu bar icon.

Which keyboard shortcut are you pressing when you’re in Mail?

Interesting. I’ve been using the pulldown option from messages on all versions up to 15.5. Evidently there was some legacy setting that was carried over that Onyx removed that caused it to go away.

“Shift command S” does work. Without the messages reminder of the correct keypress I must have been using the wrong one. So working fine now.

Thanks again for your excellent support!

The normal keyboard shortcut is Command-Control-S.
